Hey Ben,
Thanks for giving this a try and sharing your experience with us. Once I get switched to wordpress.org I'm going to have to figure out how to do this on mine. I might need to use the "Pay me" button on yours to elicit more in-depth help!
Have a Happy Easter. Don't eat too much ham! Have some of that yummy crust for me!

I think the best bet on this one would be to slice ONE KKreme donut in half and use it as the 'bread' on each side. Using an entire donut on each side is a little too much, I agree. Happy eating. :)

That looks insanely good, but maybe next time you could use 2 non glazed doughnuts. I know it would negate the glazed theme, but it may be good. Either way, Bravo to you for giving it a whirl and not having a mild heart attack. Well played sir.

I think you COULD get away with the ham + donut...but you'd have to make some substitions. I think you'd need to do something saltier (maybe a country ham...yes, i know HBH makes city ham only) or even something spicy. Maybe a chipotle rubbed ham steak, grilled hot and fast would provide the right amount of salt and heat to effectively counterbalance the sweet and make the donut sandwich viable as a slightly-less-than-ridiculous sandwich situation.

In the case of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, I'm not sure that there's anything that can counter-balance the sweetness. It's an absurd amount of sugar.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained (except maybe some calories in this case.)! You could have made the next big sandwich! Oh well, maybe add a slathering of some mustard to cut the sweetness a bit.
